The Invincible One

3/2/2021

When Riley and I were growing up we couldn’t ever hang out enough. Whether we were fighting, playing sports, or just hanging with each other it was always an adventure with Rilo. After every flag football game, travel baseball tournament, and or high school sporting event we’d already have plans for after the game. My favorite memory was playing tackle football in the game room at the Estes house. It was always Riley and me vs my brother and his. Riley never cared if he got hurt, broke something, or hurt someone else he just knew whoever had the ball was going to get creamed. And if he had the ball he knew he was gonna get smashed, but he didn’t care. He would just laugh. I miss that laughter and the man himself who was always somehow invincible. He was a true character, a true friend, and always a true brother.

Riley, The Marksman

3/2/2021

"Riley was always an excellent shot with a firearm. As a child, he was a good shot with a BB gun. As an older teen, he shot a Russian boar in the eye. The boar weighed 284 pounds. Riley was only willing to kill a boar after he learned that boars are ruining peoples’ property and taking food from the local wildlife.
This past year on a skeet range in Magnolia, Arkansas he outshot his dad and brother with a total of 24 out of 25 clay pigeons. He was shooting a shotgun he had never fired before the outing."

7 Year Old Riley

"Win here. Riley is my second grand boy! What a special guy. So kindhearted,  full of laughter,  loved the beach and adventure. Our togetherness has always been so special: walking on the beach, picking up shells, and fishing. One time the family was in Florida at a restaurant with a clipper ship on the wall with a mermaid on front of the ship.  Riley told Johnny grandpa, " I want to take her home and hang her on my wall".   Age 7  Oh my Love ya Riley!!  Always in my heart"

Riley & His South Park

3/2/2021

"My last memory with Riley is one that I will cherish forever.  About a month and a half ago, I was blessed enough to attend the Estes family ski trip. Over the years, I always heard that Riley looked forward to this trip more than anything because he loved being on the slopes. This year Riley and I shared a room together. This was the beginning of a weekend that I will never forget.

We slept side by side in the most uncomfortable twin beds. We couldn’t fall asleep the first night, so Riley turned on the TV. He turned on some crappy show and I said, “Rilo, what the heck are we watching…Family Guy???” Then Riley looked at me like I had three heads and said word for word, “Are you kidding me? NO! It is South Park!!!” I busted out laughing because he was so disappointed that I had never watched South Park. We ended up staying up until almost 3 am watching South Park together. Riley explained what the show was about and answered all of my questions.

We fell asleep for a few hours and then we ended up waking up at the same time. It was the craziest situation because he woke up and said, “Callie, are you hot in here?” and I said, “Oh my gosh, yes! It is so hot!!” We both started laughing because we were so uncomfortable and could not fall asleep. He begged me to open the window. It was the simple moments with Rilo that I will always remember. Riley was like the little brother I never had but always wanted. I love you Rilo!"
