Riley & His South Park

3/2/2021

"My last memory with Riley is one that I will cherish forever.  About a month and a half ago, I was blessed enough to attend the Estes family ski trip. Over the years, I always heard that Riley looked forward to this trip more than anything because he loved being on the slopes. This year Riley and I shared a room together. This was the beginning of a weekend that I will never forget.

We slept side by side in the most uncomfortable twin beds. We couldn’t fall asleep the first night, so Riley turned on the TV. He turned on some crappy show and I said, “Rilo, what the heck are we watching…Family Guy???” Then Riley looked at me like I had three heads and said word for word, “Are you kidding me? NO! It is South Park!!!” I busted out laughing because he was so disappointed that I had never watched South Park. We ended up staying up until almost 3 am watching South Park together. Riley explained what the show was about and answered all of my questions.

We fell asleep for a few hours and then we ended up waking up at the same time. It was the craziest situation because he woke up and said, “Callie, are you hot in here?” and I said, “Oh my gosh, yes! It is so hot!!” We both started laughing because we were so uncomfortable and could not fall asleep. He begged me to open the window. It was the simple moments with Rilo that I will always remember. Riley was like the little brother I never had but always wanted. I love you Rilo!"
